Samsung Electronics and Corning announced the application of the industry's first anti-reflective glass ceramic cover material, "Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2," to the "Galaxy S25 Ultra" display.
"Gorilla Armor 2" is designed to have enhanced durability compared to the first generation, able to withstand damage even when dropped on rough surfaces. In Corning's tests, devices equipped with "Gorilla Armor 2" showed no damage when dropped from a height of up to 2.2 meters onto concrete, while alternative glass ceramic models broke from a height of 1 meter. Additionally, this material demonstrated scratch resistance more than four times greater than that of standard lithium-aluminosilicate glass.
The anti-reflective feature reduces surface reflection indoors and outdoors while enhancing contrast ratio, providing a clear screen even under bright sunlight. This characteristic ensures excellent durability and visibility in everyday life.
Bae Kwang-jin, head of the Mobile Experience (MX) Division's Mechanical Development Team at Samsung Electronics, noted that "the partnership between Samsung Electronics and Corning has driven technological innovation," adding that "it will provide a new product experience through enhanced durability." David Velasquez, vice president of Corning, emphasized that "Gorilla Armor 2 boasts the best durability among all Galaxy devices ever, providing consumers with an innovative user experience."
Samsung Electronics and Corning have collaborated for over 50 years since establishing a joint venture for the domestic TV supply in 1973, applying "Corning® Gorilla® Glass" to every Galaxy S series starting from the early Galaxy S.
