Webtoon discovered by Naver Webtoon will be adapted into a Hollywood movie.
Naver Webtoon's parent company, Webtoon Entertainment, announced on the 22nd that it will produce the horror webtoon "Stagtown," which is currently being serialized in North America.
LuckyChap, a Hollywood production company established by Wattpad Webtoon Studio and actress Margot Robbie, which has produced films like "Barbie" and "Saltburn," will participate in the production.
Benjamin Brewer, the lead visual effects artist of "Everything Everywhere All at Once," will write and direct the film.
"Stagtown" is a horror webtoon that deals with supernatural events experienced by the protagonist, Frankie, when he returns to his hometown.
Jason Goldberg, the film head of Wattpad Webtoon Studio, noted, "Stagtown has received tremendous affection from North American fans for its original horror story and exceptional artwork."
He added, "We are pleased to work on this project with LuckyChap, known for its unique directing skills and excellent adaptations, and director Benjamin Brewer, who will open a new horizon in horror films."
Discovered on the North American amateur platform Canvas, it has been officially serialized in Naver Webtoon's English service since 2021, with a total view count of 18 million.
