The KakaoTalk channel is a service that helps public institutions or businesses that want to utilize KakaoTalk for business to connect and communicate with users, supporting features like notification messages and counseling chat. It is expected that the application of the 'public institution channel exclusive chat room background,' along with the business channel badge displayed in the top right corner of the official channel, will help prevent damage from impersonation of public institutions in advance and further enhance the reliability of the channel.
The 'public institution channel exclusive chat room background' that Kakao is providing this time will only be applied to public institution KakaoTalk channels and will be implemented after a verification process upon application by each institution. In January 2025, the exclusive background was first applied to four major public institution channels: the Korean National Police Agency, the Prosecutor's Office, the National Health Insurance Service, and the Military Manpower Administration, with plans to expand to other public institutions thereafter.
A Kakao official noted, "We have decided to provide the exclusive background for public institution channels to prevent fraudulent messages impersonating public institutions in advance and provide a digital environment that the public can trust," and added, "We will continue to work closely with various public institutions to ensure that citizens can use services with peace of mind."
