We will focus on increasing our clients' productivity with an "industry-specific artificial intelligence (AI) model" tailored to regulatory conditions and customer needs.
Lee Joong-hyuk, president of SAS Korea, said on the 21st at a press conference held at the SAS Korea office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, regarding the "2025 Business Strategy." The event was organized for SAS Korea to review its major achievements from the previous year and to introduce the strategies and solutions it will focus on this year in the era of artificial intelligence (AI).
SAS Korea has supported approximately 450 clients in Korea over the past 35 years through AI and data analytics solutions. Last year, it successfully implemented asset and liability management enhancement solutions for KB Kookmin Bank and anti-money laundering (AML) solutions for Woori Bank, achieving results in providing solutions for financial institutions. Additionally, it carried out cloud-based digital transformation projects for manufacturing and educational institutions, including an analytical model enhancement project for the Korea Credit Information Service.
SAS Korea has highlighted the development of industry-specific solutions as a key strategy this year. Lee noted, "Last year, we received feedback from clients wanting to further enhance productivity based on existing SAS infrastructure and solutions," and explained, "We plan to provide industry-specific AI models tailored to specific tasks."
The industry-specific AI models will focus on areas such as finance, public sector, manufacturing, and healthcare. Lee stated, "We will provide AI models specialized in 'fraud and money laundering prevention,' 'regulatory compliance,' and 'risk management' according to our clients' needs in each field," and added, "We plan to lead innovation in the domestic healthcare and clinical sectors based on SAS technology used as a standard database by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)." He further noted, "These models will be provided in a ready-to-use format to consider the limitations of clients without AI expertise."
Collaboration with Kolon Benit, an IT service company with which SAS Korea signed a distribution contract last year, will also begin in earnest this year. Through this collaboration, joint marketing and sales will be strengthened for clients in the healthcare, education, manufacturing, and retail sectors. Lee remarked, "For our core clients in the finance and public sectors, SAS Korea will directly handle sales, while distributors will take the lead in sectors like healthcare," adding, "A total of 19 business partners are working with SAS, similar to Kolon Benit."
SAS Korea has also set a major goal of enhancing productivity using its Viya platform. Viya is an AI analytics platform developed by SAS Korea to improve the efficiency of field workers. Lee stated, "The Viya platform provides 4.6 times faster results and high productivity," and indicated, "We will provide solutions based on industry-specific AI Viya platforms by integrating Viya's powerful analytical capabilities with LLM technology."
Additionally, SAS Korea plans to enhance the reliability of generative AI. Kim Geun-tae, executive director of SAS Korea, emphasized, "The most important consideration for corporations when applying AI models is reliability," and noted, "We will support our clients in addressing concerns such as AI bias, personal information and security, and data quality through SAS platforms like Viya."
