LG CNS announced on the 20th that it will lead the digital transformation of the logistics industry through Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) technology.
On the 17th, LG CNS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bear Robotics, a mobility platform corporation based in the United States. Through this agreement, both parties plan to jointly develop next-generation autonomous mobile robots and robot control solutions, as well as enhance automation systems for logistics centers, providing solutions that enable uninterrupted and remote robot operations.
Bear Robotics, headquartered in Silicon Valley, is currently operating about 20,000 artificial intelligence (AI)-based service robots in more than 20 countries worldwide and possesses clustering control technology that can efficiently manage up to 1,000 robots in a single space. LG CNS plans to develop large autonomous mobile robots suitable for transporting heavy industrial goods and small autonomous mobile robots for automated logistics facilities by leveraging Bear Robotics' technological expertise.
Both parties plan to improve efficiency significantly by providing optimized autonomous mobile robots and control systems tailored to the internal structure and cargo volume of logistics centers, thereby reducing logistics expenses and shortening time. In particular, they will also develop a control system encompassing various functions such as remote control, route setting, traffic management, and performance monitoring of autonomous mobile robots.
Through this collaboration, LG CNS aims to further strengthen its know-how in the smart logistics sector. Currently, LG CNS leads logistics automation technology by providing a variety of robot solutions, including automated guided vehicles (AGVs), AI picking robots, and AI vision cameras. Additionally, it has proprietary technologies such as mathematical optimization technology and digital twin technology that can maximize the performance of autonomous mobile robots.
Lee Jun-ho, head of the Smart Logistics & City Division at LG CNS, noted, "By combining Bear Robotics' excellent autonomous mobile robots and control solutions with LG CNS's smart logistics know-how, we will lead the digital transformation of the logistics industry," adding, "Experience in the practical application of robot solutions will be key to enhancing the competitiveness and expense efficiency of the logistics industry."
