Kakao announced on the 20th that it has published the 'Public Innovation Report 2024' containing innovative cases of digital administration utilizing Kakao services by the government and public institutions.
As an example of alleviating administrative inconveniences in this report, over 60 local governments nationwide have introduced a local government tax delinquency notification service using KakaoTalk's AlimTalk. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that the scale of administrative budget savings achieved by incorporating KakaoTalk's AlimTalk into the 'mobile messaging service' sent by central and local government agencies to citizens is approximately 4 billion won. Additionally, Nowon District in Seoul has achieved a response rate exceeding 106% through its KakaoTalk-based delinquency notification service and has been selected as an exemplary case of active administration.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Mental Health Center are providing a self-assessment service for depression through the 'Mental Health Chatbot' developed in collaboration with Kakao Healthcare. Meanwhile, the National Fire Agency is offering a free emergency medical consultation service via KakaoTalk channels for overseas citizens, creating an environment where civil complaints can be addressed anytime and anywhere, thereby contributing to increased administrative efficiency through KakaoTalk.
Furthermore, the Kakao Group is strengthening cooperation with the public sector through its ultra-precise bus system and Kakao Mobility's broadcast messaging system. The ultra-precise bus system, offered in collaboration with local governments, maximizes convenience by providing real-time information and accurate services to public transport users. The broadcasting messaging system, operated in conjunction with the Korean National Police Agency, is utilized for swiftly and efficiently delivering urgent notices, such as during disaster situations. In fact, the Korean National Police Agency has sent 955,000 emergency messages through the broadcasting messaging system, enhancing citizen convenience and access.
A Kakao representative said, 'Kakao Group's services are being utilized as a foundational platform for solving social issues, including cost reduction of administrative services, increased work efficiency, and response to civil complaints.' They noted, 'We will continue to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that public innovation becomes more active and platform users can safely benefit from technology.'
