KT announced on the 20th that it will implement a 'roaming data bonus promotion' to lighten the data burden for overseas travelers in the new year.
This promotion will run until Feb. 28, and all customers subscribed to the 'shared roaming' service will receive up to 3GB of additional data on top of their existing data allowance. In particular, a special benefit has been prepared for customers aged 19 to 34, allowing them to use the shared roaming plans at a discounted price of 5,000 won.
During the promotion period, customers subscribing to the shared roaming 'Asia-Americas' products will receive additional data of 1GB, 2GB, or 3GB for the plans priced at 33,000 won (4GB), 44,000 won (8GB), and 66,000 won (12GB), respectively. The same additional data benefits will apply to the 'global' products priced at 33,000 won (3GB), 44,000 won (6GB), and 66,000 won (9GB).
Since its launch, the shared roaming plan has surpassed 3.4 million cumulative subscribers, establishing itself as KT's representative roaming product. In particular, this plan allows sharing of data roaming among up to five lines (including the subscriber) between KT mobile lines, regardless of the type of travel companion, enabling economical data usage.
KT will also enhance overseas travel benefits for roaming customers. Until March 31, a 1,000 won discount coupon will be offered for Kakao's overseas vehicle hailing service. Kakao's overseas vehicle service allows users to hail local taxis in approximately 30 countries, including Japan and Southeast Asia. Additionally, benefits in partnership with Shinsegae Duty-Free and KB Kookmin Bank will be expanded in February.
Kim Young-geol, Deputy Minister of KT's Service Product Division, noted, "We prepared this promotion so that customers planning overseas travel during the new year's holiday period can conveniently use the roaming service," and added, "We will do our best to continue to provide various benefits in the future."
