Neptune announced on the 20th that it has completed the acquisition of 51.37% of the equity of mobile game developer Phantom.
Phantom is a company founded in 2019 by CEO Kim Sang-hun, known for 'Abyssrium,' and Executive Director Kim Dong-jun, who led the development of 'Mid-Aged Knight Kim Bong-sik.' Its representative works include 'Penguin's Island,' which recorded 30 million downloads globally, and 'Souls,' which surpassed 100 billion won in cumulative revenue.
These two games are successfully being serviced in key markets such as North America and Europe through a publishing agreement with global game publisher Habby, and 85% of Phantom's revenue is generated overseas.
Neptune has been continuously investing in and acquiring mobile game developers to strengthen the global competitiveness of its gaming business. Starting with Enplai Studio in 2019, it secured a total of seven internal development studios and subsidiaries, including Tripla, Playhard, and EK Games in 2024, expanding its business portfolio.
Neptune's strategy has led to stable revenue and operating profit growth through the release of 10 new games each year alongside its existing successful titles. The representative work 'Infinite Stairs' has recorded 25 million cumulative downloads, while Tripla's 'Cat Snackbar' and 'Cat Office' have shown performance, reaching 34 billion won in cumulative revenue as of the third quarter of last year.
Neptune CEO Kang Yul-bin noted, "Phantom has already proven to possess emotional art and gameplay in the global market, and it will play a crucial role in Neptune's gaming business growth," adding, "We will continue to discover and acquire game developers with successful formulas to strengthen our growth momentum."
