Microsoft (MS) sparked new expectations within the industry by offering a perspective contrasted with that of Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, who have expressed skepticism about the commercialization of quantum computers. On the 15th (local time), MS emphasized that quantum computing technology is rapidly evolving and that this year is the time to prepare for the quantum computer era.
Mitra Azijilard, head of MS's strategic missions and institutional sector, noted in a blog post that "2025 will be the year of preparing for quantum technology," adding, "We will see quantum computers solve meaningful problems and create business value." MS actively promoted technological diffusion by launching the "Quantum Ready Program," which provides corporations with information and tools related to quantum technology.
Azijilard emphasized, "Quantum research and development will accelerate rapidly over the next year," adding, "Now is a critical time for business leaders to take action." MS is investing in the development of quantum computers alongside Google and IBM.
Meanwhile, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, recently stated that it will take 20 years for useful quantum computers to be utilized, expressing skepticism about the commercialization timeline. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has also remarked that "more time is needed for quantum computers to establish themselves as a useful paradigm."
NVIDIA will hold a "Quantum Day" event during its annual developer conference GTC, which takes place from March 17, where Jensen Huang is expected to discuss the current state and future of quantum computing technology.
