Devsisters' development studio, Studio Kingdom, announced on the 16th that the mobile role-playing game (RPG) Cookie Run: Kingdom has collaborated with master Shin Jeong-cheol, the country's first traditional mask dance skill heir, for an art collaboration.
This collaboration was planned with the new beast-grade 'Shadow Milk Cookie' as its theme, celebrating the 4th anniversary of Cookie Run: Kingdom. The Shadow Milk Cookie, which causes confusion by falsely disrupting the adventures of Pure Vanilla Cookie and Brave Cookie's group, is depicted through satire and humor using traditional masks.
Master Shin Jeong-cheol is the country's first traditional mask dance skill heir. He has dedicated over 30 years to traditional mask production, infusing each mask with the character's personality. He has hosted various exhibitions and solo shows both domestically and internationally to promote the inheritance and modernization of traditional masks.
Master Shin Jeong-cheol humorously created the mask for Shadow Milk Cookie by drawing inspiration from characters that satirize the Yangban in traditional mask dances. The five ancient cookies (▲Pure Vanilla Cookie ▲Saint Lily Cookie ▲Holyberry Cookie ▲Gold Cheese Cookie ▲Dark Cocoa Cookie) that become targets of ridicule opposing Shadow Milk Cookie also have been reborn as humorous masks.
A performance video titled 'Cuckoo Show,' utilizing the created masks, has also been released. It expresses the story of Shadow Milk Cookie in a modern mask dance that blends gaming and traditional culture. The performance was carried out by dancers from the young mask dance group 'Cheonhajeil Mask Workshop.'
