Riot Games announced plans to host international League of Legends (LoL) esports competitions over the next three years, stating on the 9th that the World Championship (Worlds) will take place in South Korea in 2027.
Starting in 2025, a new international tournament called "First Stand" will be established, and the official international competitions will be reorganized into three: ▲First Stand ▲Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) ▲World Championship. "First Stand" will be a tournament for teams with the best performance in each regional Split 1 competition, and the first tournament is scheduled to be held from March 10 to 16 at LoL Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
In 2025, First Stand will take place in South Korea, MSI in Canada, and the World Championship in China. In 2026, First Stand will be in Brazil, MSI in South Korea, and the World Championship in North America. Then in 2027, First Stand will be in Southeast Asia, MSI in Europe, and the World Championship in South Korea, marking South Korea's second time hosting the World Championship final.
Riot Games noted, "From First Stand to MSI and the World Championship, we will provide a special experience for fans around the world, and particularly, the tournaments held in South Korea are highly anticipated."
