Apple has refuted allegations that its voice assistant 'Siri' collects users' private conversations.
On the 8th, Apple claimed in a press release that "Siri was designed from the outset to protect users' personal information," and that "Siri data has never been used to build marketing profiles or sold to others for any purpose."
Apple continued, saying, "In 2019, we reached an agreement with users to alleviate related concerns," and explained, "Apple utilizes data to enhance Siri and is committed to ongoing technology development to protect personal information more closely."
Previously, there were allegations that Apple's voice assistant Siri, installed on iPhones and other devices globally, was collecting users' conversations and personal information. Although Apple has firmly denied these allegations, it recently changed its stance by proposing a settlement of $95 million (approximately 140 billion won) to consumers in a class-action lawsuit concerning Siri's personal information leak filed on December 31 last year in the United States.
