LG Electronics explained that the new product features a brightness enhancement technology that modifies the display algorithm and the organic compound stacking structure, allowing for a maximum brightness that is three times that of standard OLED TVs.
The OLED-specific picture and sound AI processor 'Alpha 11' developed by LG Electronics has enhanced the picture and sound quality of OLED evo. Alpha 11 segments the TV screen at the pixel level to upscale the picture quality and adjust the brightness.
Additionally, it analyzes the size of the room where the TV is installed, the furniture arrangement, and transforms the two-channel audio source into a 11.1.2-channel virtual spatial sound optimized for the installation environment. It distinguishes between the voices of characters and background sounds to provide clearer audio.
LG OLED TV received a total of five innovation awards, including the Best Innovation in Video and Picture Quality award (G5 model) at the CES 2025 Innovation Awards presented by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA).
The new product is equipped with an AI dedicated button on the Magic Remote, enhancing accessibility to AI features. When customers press the AI button to turn on the TV, it enters 'AI Welcome' mode. The AI analyzes factors like weather and time, along with the TV usage history, to recommend content.
By holding down the AI button while watching, users can access features such as 'Picture and Sound Mode Settings' or 'Content Search based on Viewing History.' The AI suggests optimized example modes based on approximately 1.6 billion screen modes and 40 million sound modes tailored to the customer's requests.
Pressing the AI button briefly allows convenient access to functions that suggest actions based on time zone usage patterns, such as 'Connecting game console' or 'Setting sleep timer.'
The new product also includes features based on AI such as 'Voice ID,' which provides personalized services by logging in with the voice owner's account, an 'AI chatbot' that analyzes inquiries or issues during TV usage and suggests solutions, and a 'Generative AI Gallery' that creates desired images using generative AI.
This year, the web OS 25 implemented in LG Smart TVs applies large language models (LLMs) to enhance the capability to understand customer phrases and infer intentions. For example, it accurately understands and responds to complex questions like 'Show me an action movie with an actor who is a former pro wrestler and that's suitable for family viewing.'
LG OLED TV has also improved gaming performance. This new product is the first in the industry to support 4K content at a maximum refresh rate of 165 hertz (Hz). In particular, it applies graphic technologies such as NVIDIA's 'G-SYNC Compatible' and AMD's 'FreeSync Premium,' which allow for smooth visuals even in fast-paced games.
The 'Game Dashboard' applied in LG Smart TVs allows users to easily set various gaming features. When customers select the genre of the game they are currently enjoying, such as first-person shooters (FPS), real-time strategy (RTS), or role-playing games (RPG), the frame rate per second, graphic technologies, game map modes, and low-latency modes are adjusted accordingly, and customers can also modify individual settings.
The 'Filmmaker Ambient Light Mode' installed in this new product analyzes the lighting intensity of the viewing environment to automatically adjust brightness and picture quality, ensuring that the original intent of the filmmaker is accurately conveyed.
LG OLED TV's wireless AV transmission solution is a technology that wirelessly transmits 4K∙144Hz video without loss or delay. It particularly applies technologies that minimize screen tearing, such as G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium, even in wireless environments.
Park Hyung-se, head of LG Electronics' MS Business Division (President), noted that 'LG OLED TV has established itself as a benchmark for premium TVs, showcasing an unprecedented self-illuminating viewing experience since its first launch in 2013,' adding that 'The 2025 model LG OLED evo will provide customers with an immersive viewing experience through its AI-enabled webOS platform.'
