SOCAR analyzed data from December 2023 to November 2024, revealing that 10 million SOCAR members drove approximately 480 million kilometers last year. This distance is equivalent to approximately 12,000 laps around the Earth or about 106,000 laps around the outskirts of South Korea.
The most active member utilized the car-sharing service a total of 431 times. This means they used SOCAR at least once daily throughout the year. The member who borrowed the most diverse range of vehicles utilized 39 different types, including electric cars, imported cars, and camping cars. The car type that SOCAR members used the most last year was the Hyundai Avante CN7.
When analyzing the age distribution of users by vehicle type, individuals in their 20s, seeking economical mobility, preferred the Hyundai Avante CN7, while those in their 30s and 40s, who traveled frequently with family, favored the multi-passenger vehicle Kia Carnival KA4 Prestige. Meanwhile, those in their 50s with economic power showed a preference for the premium sedan Hyundai Grandeur.
Additionally, as a result of expanding the lineup of imported cars, including the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the utilization of imported cars increased by approximately 14% monthly, with a roughly 15% increase in driving distance.
The figures for diverse forms of car-sharing also stood out. Last year, the member who utilized the 'one-way' service the most did so 221 times. One-way is SOCAR's car-sharing service that allows returning vehicles to a different location than where they were borrowed. In the first half of 2024, usage increased more than twofold across all age groups compared to the previous year.
Moreover, the member who most frequently used the 'call' service, allowing users to rent cars at locations other than SOCAR zones, such as near their home or work, utilized the service a total of 171 times.
Data regarding car-sharing usage by foreign tourists was also disclosed. Last year, Singapore was the country that utilized SOCAR's car-sharing service the most among overseas nations. Taiwan ranked second and Malaysia third, highlighting the prevalence of SOCAR usage among Asian countries.
SOCAR unveiled a car-sharing service for foreign visitors in Jeju Island last August and started selling products on global Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) such as Klook. This year, it plans to expand service areas while also developing a separate global version of the SOCAR app.
The transaction volume of SOCAR's online parking platform, 'Everyone's Parking Lot,' surpassed 50 billion won, marking a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. The most popular parking type was the same-day pass, which can be used for up to 24 hours on the day of purchase.
Additionally, the time-based and late-night passes ranked second and third, respectively. The most popular parking areas within Seoul were identified in the following order: Mapo District, Jongno District, and Seocho District, which are densely populated with offices and residential complexes.
