The Ministry of Science and ICT stated on the 2nd that it has been providing communication services to the bereaved families and mourners at the scene in Muan since the day of the Jeju Air aircraft accident for the smooth recovery of the incident.
On the day of the accident, which was the 29th of last month, the Ministry of Science and ICT, in anticipation of many people gathering at the airport and joint memorial site (Muan Comprehensive Sports Park), proactively deployed five mobile base station vehicles in collaboration with the three telecommunications companies (SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus) and increased the traffic capacity by deploying 32 additional communication devices with specialized personnel.
In response to the increase in crowd at the scene, one additional mobile base station has been deployed, free Wi-Fi has been installed and provided at the airport and joint memorial site, and mobile phone charging and backup battery support have been offered to ensure that the bereaved families and other on-site personnel can use their mobile phones and the internet without inconvenience.
Ryu Je-myung, head of the Network Policy Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, noted, 'We will ensure that there will be no inconvenience in collaboration with the telecommunications companies until the recovery effort at the site is completed.'
