LG Electronics announced on the 30th that it will unveil the world's highest-resolution organic light-emitting diode (OLED) gaming monitor at CES 2025, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas, United States, early next year.
The two 45-inch UltraGear monitors (model names: 45GX990A/950A) being unveiled by LG Electronics are the first OLED gaming monitors to support a resolution exceeding 4K, specifically 5K2K (5120X2160). They feature a 21:9 aspect ratio, making them suitable for the latest games and providing an immersive gaming experience. The screen brightness reaches up to 1300 nits, the highest level among OLED monitors (1 nit is equivalent to the brightness of one candle).
Among them, the 45GX990A model can be adjusted to a flat screen with a 900R curvature (the degree of bend in a circle with a radius of 900 mm) to match the viewing environment. Users can switch between viewing general content on a flat screen and enjoying racing games or first-person shooter games on a curved screen for an immersive experience. It has received recognition for its excellent picture quality and innovative bendable feature, winning three awards, including the top prize in the 'CES Innovation Awards' category for products to be exhibited at CES 2025.
Both products support high refresh rate mode (2560X1080∙330Hz) and high-resolution mode (5120X2160∙165Hz). High refresh rate mode is advantageous for first-person shooter games where quick screen transitions are important, while high-resolution mode is better suited for games or video content rich in visual effects. Users can easily adjust the high refresh rate/high resolution mode as well as the aspect ratio and screen size by pressing the dedicated button at the bottom of the monitor.
Additionally, the monitors support graphics technologies such as NVIDIA's G-SYNC Compatible and AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro, allowing for seamless representation of fast-paced gaming content. They have also received VESA Display HDR True Black 400 certification for their high contrast ratio.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics plans to actively target the rapidly growing gaming monitor market with its new UltraGear products. According to market research firm Valuates Reports, the global gaming monitor market size is expected to grow from approximately $6.5 billion in 2023 at an average annual growth rate of 14.9%, reaching around $17.4 billion by 2030.
