LG Electronics recently completed the '2024 LG Electronics Employee Career Mentoring' volunteer activity, announcing it on the 26th. About 30 LG Electronics employees visited high schools across the country, including in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and Changwon, Gyeongnam Province, to introduce their respective roles and share career concerns with a total of 377 students.
The employee career mentoring program, which LG Electronics has conducted annually since 2021, is designed to provide opportunities for young people in regions with fewer career experience opportunities compared to urban areas to meet employee mentors who are actually working in their fields, gain various job information, and share their career concerns.
Over the past four years, a total of 213 employees have participated as mentors, with 2,241 students taking part as mentees from more than 100 educational institutions nationwide.
This year, the mentor group was formed focusing on technology sectors that are gaining attention in the global IT market, such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and augmented reality. In small group mentoring sessions with about 10 participants, employee mentors met with young individuals interested in each field to introduce the vibrant work environment and held a question-and-answer session.
Kim Nuri, a researcher from LG Electronics' Manufacturing AI Solutions Team at the Research Institute, who participated in this year's career mentoring volunteer activities, said, 'Having participated in LG Electronics' ESG university student academy for the sixth time, I wanted to share my vision as an AI technology researcher with the young people I met as a mentor.' She added, 'It was rewarding to be able to help the young individuals grow their dreams based on my job experience at the company.'
Yoon Dae-sik, executive director in charge of external cooperation at LG Electronics, noted, 'Employee career mentoring serves as a networking platform where LG Electronics employees, who are experts in their respective fields, meet with young talents who will grow into future leaders and share various experiences and knowledge.' He also stated, 'We will continue to support young people in various ways as they challenge their dreams to lead future society.'
