The world's largest IT (Information Technology) exhibition, 'CES 2025,' where cutting-edge future technologies can be seen at a glance, will be held from 7 to 10 next month (local time) in the Las Vegas area at the largest scale ever. This year's theme is 'DIVE IN,' which means 'immersing oneself' or 'digging deeper,' signifying the search for new possibilities to solve global problems through advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The key word of this CES is AI applied across all industries. According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes CES, "Next year, we will see an abundance of new products with AI technology applied extensively," and noted, "Technology trends like advanced mobility and digital healthcare are also expected to receive significant attention."
◇ Jensen Huang opens the event... delivers keynote speech at the immersive auditorium 'Sphere'
Given that AI penetrating all industries is a major theme of CES 2025, leaders from various fields will serve as keynote speakers to introduce AI technology. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, who returns to the CES stage after eight years, will deliver the first keynote speech on the 6th of next month. He is expected to present a vision for innovation in the technology industry, including next-generation semiconductors, which are core to the AI era. Yuki Kusumi, CEO of Panasonic Holdings, will share Panasonic's eco-friendly energy technology and advanced solutions under the topic 'WELL into the Future' on the 7th.
Delta Air Lines and Volvo, as well as the CEO of Waymo, Google's autonomous driving subsidiary, plan to introduce advanced mobility technology in their keynote speeches. Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, will discuss cutting-edge technologies applied in the aviation industry on the 7th. Unlike other CEOs who will deliver keynote speeches in nearby hotels, he will take the stage at 'Sphere,' a massive auditorium famous in Las Vegas, marking a first for CES. The CTA stated, "Audience members will feel as if they are traveling to the future on a Delta flight in the immersive auditorium." Martin Lundstedt, CEO of Volvo, will present a blueprint for a transportation system that does not use fossil fuels on the 8th. Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo, will also deliver a keynote at a technology leaders dinner on the 8th.
X Corp, a U.S. technology corporation chaired by Elon Musk, will also present a keynote. Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X Corp, will discuss evolving social platform technology on the 7th. Additionally, the CEOs of SiriusXM, North America's largest satellite radio, and streaming service provider, and Accenture, a digital transformation service company based in Ireland, will share their visions through keynote speeches.
◇ Korean corporations 'record number' of over 800 participating... emphasizing AI across the board
According to the CTA on the 26th, over 4,500 corporations from 160 countries will participate in this CES. Korean corporations, with a record high of over 800, will prominently feature large companies like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK, and LS, along with a significant number of startups showcasing their AI technology. The number of AI products featured at this CES is expected to increase by more than 50% compared to last year.
Samsung Electronics, similar to the previous CES, will emphasize 'AI for All' and highlight 'AI Home' technology that allows remote monitoring and control of all home appliances. On the 6th, the day before the opening, Han Jong-hee, vice chairman and head of the Device Experience (DX) institutional sector at Samsung Electronics, will present the company's 'Home AI' strategy at a media conference. LG Electronics' CEO, Jo Joo-wan, will also introduce a future life transformed by AI during the same media conference. At this exhibition, LG Electronics plans to present an AI-based concept car that viewers can experience, moving away from simply showcasing appliances.
SK Group will showcase an exhibition hall measuring 1,950 square meters (approximately 580 pyeong), conceptualizing an AI data center, introducing four core data center solutions (AI, energy, operations, and security) held by its affiliates like SK Telecom. AI semiconductors, including SK hynix's 5th generation HBM (HBM3E) 16-layer and the neural processing unit (NPU) from Korean AI chip startup Rebellion, will also be exhibited.
Hyundai Mobis, the only participant from Hyundai Motor Group at this CES, is leading with 'Human Tech' that breaks down the barriers between people and technology. They will unveil holographic display technology that projects various information on the front windshield of vehicles and technology that monitors driver situations based on brain waves.
◇ Significant displays of digital health, advanced mobility, and robotics products
In addition to AI, quantum computing, which enables ultra-fast large-scale computing, is also being highlighted as a next-generation technology at this exhibition. Samil PwC noted, "Quantum computing will emerge as a game changer following AI," and added, "At CES 2025, discussions will be held on creating business opportunities utilizing quantum technology, including the largest global quantum event and collaboration for new programs."
Foreign corporations will showcase numerous entries in the fields of AI-based smart homes, digital healthcare, and advanced robotics. Sony will introduce AI home technology featuring a product awarded the Best Innovation Award that generates 12 virtual speakers using four wireless speakers at home. U.S. digital health company Synchron will unveil technology that allows control of home devices through thought alone, without using voice. Robotics firms Kubota's North American branch and China's Hypershell each received the 'CES 2025 Best Innovation Award' for their four-wheeled robots for agriculture and construction, and exoskeleton robots that assist outdoor activities, respectively.
Toyota will showcase advanced mobility technology at CES for the first time in five years, presenting its electric vehicle vision and concept cars based on its future smart city project, 'Woven City.' Honda also plans to unveil an electric vehicle prototype, while Mercedes-Benz will introduce a generative AI-based virtual assistant and associated electric vehicles. Traditional technology corporations are also launching innovative technologies to seize the future automotive market. There are predictions that Sony will reveal 'Afeela,' an electric vehicle developed jointly with Honda, featuring a next-generation video game console.
