SAP officially announced the global launch of its carbon accounting solution, 'SAP Green Ledger,' which directly integrates with customer financial data on the 23rd.
SAP Green Ledger, part of SAP's sustainability solutions, assigns carbon emissions to specific economic activities and transactions recorded by the SAP ERP solution. This enables corporations to more accurately assess, analyze, and report their carbon footprint across products, services, and organizational units.
SAP Green Ledger is built on the existing financial and ERP solutions of SAP established by thousands of corporations worldwide. Through this solution, corporations can integrate and expand emission data, connecting their environmental impact with financial performance to make better-informed sustainable decisions. This allows corporations to enhance compliance, efficiency, and transparency.
SAP Green Ledger was developed in collaboration with corporations such as Accenture, Deloitte, EY, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and with the support of pilot customer Covestro. Currently, Covestro is testing ways to associate the carbon dioxide emissions generated in its supply chain during the manufacturing process of specific products with SAP Green Ledger, evaluating it in the initial pilot phase.
