Bloomberg News reported on the 22nd (local time) that Apple is developing a smart doorbell and lock system equipped with Face ID.
It has been reported that Apple is developing a smart doorbell with facial recognition capabilities that wirelessly connects to deadbolt locks. This product features the ability to scan the homeowner's face and automatically unlock the door, similar to iPhone Face ID.
The doorbell is likely to operate with Apple HomeKit locks, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman noted that Apple could offer an all-in-one solution by collaborating with other brands. He added that the development of the doorbell is still in its early stages, and it is unlikely to be released to the market until late next year.
This product is expected to compete with Amazon Ring and Google Nest. Apple is preparing to enter the smart home market. Bloomberg stated that Apple's smart home ecosystem already has a 'home hub' device under development and is equipped with new artificial intelligence (AI) services and hardware technology centered around its own developed wireless chips.
