Samsung Electronics was found to have invested the most money in the field of information protection among domestic corporations. KT and Coupang followed.

According to the '2024 Analysis of Information Protection Disclosure Status' released by the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 22nd, Samsung Electronics invested 29.74 billion won in the field of information protection, ranking first for the second consecutive year.

KT (12.18 billion won) ranked second, and Coupang (6.6 billion won) ranked third, maintaining the same positions as last year. Other corporations experienced ranking changes within the top 10. SK Hynix, which ranked fourth last year, and SK Telecom, which ranked fifth, fell to sixth and seventh places, respectively. This year, Samsung SDS and LG Uplus took their spots.

The number of dedicated personnel for information protection was highest at Samsung Electronics, followed by KT and Samsung SDS. The total investment in information protection by all disclosed corporations this year was 2.1196 trillion won, with dedicated personnel increasing by 15.7% to 7,681.4 compared to last year. The average investment amount (290 million won) and average dedicated personnel (10.5) also rose from the previous year.

As the social responsibility of corporations regarding information protection has been emphasized, the number of self-disclosing corporations increased from 63 last year to 91.

The average investment by industry was highest in the financial sector (7.6 billion won), followed by the information and communication sector (5.9 billion won) and the retail industry (2.7 billion won).
