LG Uplus announced on the 20th that its self-developed cloud-based security solution "U+SASE" has been recognized for its excellence, winning the Minister of Science and ICT Award (Grand Prize) at the security collaboration case and idea contest organized by the Korean security council.
"SASE (Secure Access Service Edge)" is a next-generation security solution that applies security technology to networks interconnecting PCs, data centers, clouds, etc., protecting all connections. In the past, security technology had to be applied to each device used for work, but with SASE, it is possible to have flexible security regardless of the device or user location through security technology applied at the network level.
LG Uplus has commenced the development of "U+SASE" to enhance its security competitiveness and activate the collaborative ecosystem of the domestic security industry. As SASE can provide various security technologies integrated at the network level, it aims to offer various domestic security technologies through U+SASE.
LG Uplus's idea for the next-generation security solution led to winning the Minister of Science and ICT Award at the idea contest held by the Korean security council known as "K-Security Alliance." It is analyzed that the solution received excellent evaluations in aspects such as a concrete development roadmap, direction, and interoperability.
LG Uplus expects that it will be able to enhance the overall competitiveness of the domestic security industry through U+SASE. The domestic security industry can lead standardization through mutual connections centered on U+SASE, and by contributing to the settlement and investment attraction of companies that are struggling despite their high technological capability, it is expected to lead to a systematic enhancement of domestic security competitiveness.
Through this award, LG Uplus plans to accelerate the development of "U+SASE." The company plans to launch U+SASE by the first half of next year and to increase the number of participating security firms. Additionally, it has proposed a roadmap to develop "CSMA (Cyber Security Mesh Architecture)" that spans all areas beyond SASE, which focuses on security at the network level.
Park Seong-yul, head of LG Uplus's corporate business innovation group (executive director), stated, "I am glad that U+SASE can secure its position in the market from the very beginning by being recognized externally," and added, "We will launch U+SASE according to the planned roadmap and expand it into services that cover all areas in need of security."
