KT announced on the 19th that it will implement the first selection of 50 works from the 'Children's Writer Contest' hosted by its infant-exclusive Internet TV (IPTV) service, Genie TV Kidsland, using artificial intelligence (AI) media art.
AI media art was created using an image generation model within KT's Magic Platform. The imaginary animals expressed by children through words and drawings are transformed into prompts using image-to-text technology and large language model (LLM) technology, and animal images are generated through text-to-image technology to create animated stories. The images have been reborn into four styles of imaginary animals, including real film, watercolor, oil painting, and eye sketch mode, focusing on diversely expressing children's imaginations.
The voices of children emerging from the AI media art are generated using AI voice generation technology. The AI-generated voice, which learns from children's voices, narrates their imaginative stories. Additionally, KT is preparing an interactive service that allows real-time communication with children on Genie TV Kidsland using generative AI technology.
The AI media art will be made available to all Genie TV customers starting December 20. Also, from December 20 to January 19, a month-long media art exhibition titled 'AI Imaginary Animals' will be held in the café located on the second basement floor of KT's Gwanghwamun EAST building, where anyone can visit and enjoy during the café's operating hours.
After viewing, participants can vote for their favorite work among the 50 pieces by clicking 'like' on the official Instagram account of the co-created book with Kidsland. Based on the voting results, the final 20 child authors will be selected and announced by the end of February next year. The selected works will be compiled by writer Lee Kyung-guk, who received the Bologna Children's Book Fair's Illustrator of the Year award in 2023, in the picture book 'Co-created Book 2: My Imaginary Animal,' which will be published by Roy Books in May next year.
Choi Kwang-cheol, senior executive vice president of KT's IPTV business division, noted, "The experience of children's precious works being expanded into fairy tales and media exhibitions through AI technology is meaningful." He added, "We will continue to strive to provide high-quality infant content integrated with AI technology on Genie TV Kidsland."
