The National Information Society Agency (NIA) announced that it held the 'AI Era Future Innovation Strategy Seminar' at its Seoul office on the 18th.
This seminar was organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 'Information Policy' journal published by NIA, reflecting on the history of national intelligent informatization and discussing future innovation strategy directions to lead in the AI era, with participation from experts in academia, industry, research, and government in the AI and digital fields.
NIA President Hwang Jong-seong noted in his opening remarks, 'The rapid advancement of AI and digital technologies heralds fundamental changes in our society,' adding, 'I hope this will serve as an important opportunity to reflect on the information journey of the past 30 years and seek the direction of future innovation.'
The first part of the seminar featured presentations and discussions on the theme 'National Intelligent Informatization: Past-Present and Strategy Directions for the AI Era,' while the second part consisted of expert presentations introducing key technologies for next-generation growth to sustain the development of South Korea, under the theme 'South Korea's Digital Road Innovation Strategy.' First, Vice Chairman of the National Artificial Intelligence Commission and President of Taejae University, Yeom Jae-ho, presented on the topic 'The Great Transformation of Human Civilization in the AI Era.' Then, Professor Lee Ho-geun (Yonsei University), the editor-in-chief of the Information Policy journal, moderated a discussion on 'Challenges and Tasks for National Intelligent Informatization in the AI Era,' with contributions from President Yeom Jae-ho (Taejae University), Professor Min Won-ki (KAIST Kim Jae-cheol Graduate School of AI), and President Hwang Jong-seong (NIA).
In the second part, a brief introduction to the research on the 'South Korea's Digital Road Innovation Strategy' report published by NIA was followed by presentations from experts.
The presentations included participation from CEO Lee Dong-joo (HyperX), CEO Cha Du-won (Sonet), CEO Kim Tae-jun (Avervirtual), Research Fellow Kim Woo-young (Korea Institute of Construction Technology), and Minister Yoon Young-man (Korea Gas Safety Corporation), introducing the future changes that advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, will bring in various fields such as networks, transportation, infection sterilization, construction, and energy.
The 'Information Policy' journal, marking its 30th anniversary this year, is the only national academic journal in South Korea that researches and analyzes trends in national informatization policy and overall informatization in both domestic and international contexts.
