GCOO announced on the 18th that it has launched a shared electric scooter service in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
Ghana, a representative developing country in Africa, is facing worsening air pollution problems alongside recent income growth.
Zibike Co., which operates GCOO, will provide eco-friendly shared personal mobility (PM) services starting from the University of Ghana, the country's leading national comprehensive university, in Accra.
At the same time, it plans to enhance mobility rights in developing countries where public transportation infrastructure is lacking, by offering services at reasonable prices.
This service entry was made through a collaboration with Herringbone Co., which promotes ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management, including environmental consulting, in Africa. Herringbone will support GCOO's eco-friendly shared PM service to take root in the community based on the local network it has built over many years.
Yun Jong-su, CEO of Zibike, noted, "The GCOO service will not only enhance the mobility convenience of students and local residents but also contribute to environmental protection and social value realization by reducing carbon emissions."
