SK Shielders announced on the 18th that it will acquire cybersecurity solution corporation SecuLayer, which is based on big data analysis and an artificial intelligence (AI) platform.

SecuLayer, established in 2012, supplies security solutions to various sectors, including public institutions, defense, finance, telecommunications, healthcare, and manufacturing. Last year and in the first half of this year, it recorded the highest market share and sales in the security information and event management (SIEM), SOAR, and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors in the domestic procurement market.

SK Shielders completed the acquisition process of SecuLayer after receiving final approval from the Fair Trade Commission for corporate mergers earlier this month. With this acquisition, SK Shielders will acquire 66.7% of SecuLayer's equity and incorporate it as a subsidiary.

This investment is the first large-scale investment since EQT Partners and SK Square began joint management, and the company expects it to be a new driving force for invigorating the information security market.

SK Shielders is enhancing its security monitoring platform, Secudium, by upgrading it based on AI and SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) and XDR (Extended Detection and Response), thus strengthening its remote security monitoring services. In particular, the company is focusing on building a security monitoring platform capable of global service expansion by internalizing SecuLayer's data analysis technology and SOAR capabilities.

Additionally, SK Shielders plans to maintain key executives, including CEO Jeon Ju-ho of SecuLayer, to ensure the consistency and autonomy of business strategies and maximize synergy between the two companies.

Hong Won-pyo, CEO of SK Shielders, said, "This acquisition of SecuLayer will serve as an important turning point for SK Shielders to solidify its status as a leading information security company in South Korea and to enter the global security market," adding, "We will enhance our security monitoring platform to provide more advanced security services to customers and actively participate in the innovation of the global information security market."
