The leader in artificial intelligence (AI) chips, NVIDIA, announced on the 17th (local time) that it will launch a new product of the small computer 'Jetson' for AI applications.
Jetson is a computer that NVIDIA first introduced in 2014, designed to enhance access to AI tasks in various applications such as robotics, drones, autonomous vehicles, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
NVIDIA's main customers are big tech companies and corporations that train and operate AI models, but Jetson is designed for hobbyists who utilize AI extensively and for small corporations to develop products with AI features such as robots.
The newly unveiled lineup is 'Orin Nano Super', priced at $249, half the cost of the previous model at $499. Though it is not equipped with NVIDIA's advanced chip, it reportedly achieves nearly double the speed and efficiency of its predecessor and can handle about 70% more computational tasks.
This product supports the development of consumer technologies such as drones and cameras. The advanced model is designed to support humanoid robots and sophisticated automation systems. The new product is also edge computing, processing data on the device itself without sending it to the cloud.
Deepu Talla, vice president of NVIDIA's robotics and edge computing division, noted regarding the new product launch, 'Finally, the time has come for generative AI capabilities to expand to the edge.'
