The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (hereafter referred to as the Content Agency) announced on the 18th the release of "2025 South Korea Content Export Prospects," which analyzes the export competitiveness and possibilities of K-content for next year.
This survey derived export forecasts for nine industries and eight regions based on the opinions of 167 content industry experts and the heads of the Content Agency's overseas business centers.
The export weather forecast for next year by content industry shows: ▲ Music 5.5 points ("clear") ▲ Fashion 5.2 points ▲ Story 4.9 points ▲ Games and comics/webtoons each 4.7 points ("fair") ▲ Characters 4.6 points ▲ Animation 3.4 points ▲ Broadcasting 2.9 points ("cloudy").
Music was rated as "clear" due to the increase in digital music sales by K-pop artists and global tours, while games and webtoons are expected to maintain a "fair" level amid expectations for new releases and market expansion. In contrast, broadcasting and animation showed a "cloudy" export outlook due to rising production costs and increased dependency on global OTT platforms.
Regionally, the export weather showed "clear" for the character sector in the Greater China region, while North America and Japan are expected to see continued growth in demand for webtoons and music.
Based on the results of this survey, the Content Agency plans to establish export support strategies to expand the global market entry of small and medium-sized content corporations.
Yoo Hyun-seok, acting head of the Content Agency, noted, "K-content is a key driver that enhances national image and drives exports in related industries," adding, "We will actively support global market expansion through various support projects."
