Nexon Games announced on the 13th that it will strengthen the competitiveness of its 'IO Division,' which is dedicated to developing and servicing subculture games.
Kim Yong-ha, Deputy Minister of Nexon Games' IO Division, and Cha Min-seo, PD of RX Studio, along with Ahn Kyung-seop, game director of MX Studio, introduced the background, vision, and operational status of the IO Division through an interview published on Nexon Games' official blog, Nexon Games Inside, on the 13th.
The IO Division was established as a development organization capable of encompassing stable live services and new projects. It oversees MX Studio, responsible for the live service of the global hit Blue Archive, and RX Studio, which is developing the new title Project RX.
Nexon Games plans to cultivate the IO Division as a specialized development organization focused on the subculture genre. Deputy Minister Kim Yong-ha noted, "The vision of the IO Division is to gather developers with expertise in subculture to create an 'isekai (異世界)' that people want to dive into," adding, "I hope that even in 10 years, the IO Division will be the best in subculture game development."
The RX Studio under the IO Division is accelerating development to conduct the Focus Group Test (FGT) for the new title Project RX next year. Project RX is a subculture game based on storytelling that allows players to enjoy interactions with characters. It is expected to showcase an isekai where players and characters live together.
