Samsung Electronics announced on the 13th that its premium projector, The Premier 8K, has become the first in the industry to receive projector standard certification from the 8K Association.
The 8K Association is a non-profit organization consisting of more than 20 global corporations leading the 8K ecosystem, established with the goal of expanding the ecosystem by establishing new 8K standards and educating the industry and consumers.
This certification criteria included key elements that influence the viewing experience, such as 8K resolution, high dynamic range (HDR) support, color gamut, contrast ratio, upscaling, and immersive audio.
The Premier 8K received this certification after being recognized for its excellent performance across all evaluation criteria. The product supports 8K consolidation capabilities and allows for large screen projection at close range without separate installation or space. Additionally, it features a brightness of up to 4500 ISO lumens and includes 'sound on screen' technology that makes it feel as though the sound is being delivered directly from the screen, enhancing immersion.
Son Tae-yong, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, noted, "This certification achievement is a significant accomplishment that officially recognizes the new possibilities of projector technology," and added, "We will continue to introduce new technologies broadly to further expand the 8K ecosystem."
Samsung Electronics plans to showcase The Premier 8K at the CES 2025, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in January 2025.
