Semes, a semiconductor equipment company, announced on the 12th that Sim Sang-pil, former vice president of Samsung Electronics, has been appointed as the new CEO of the 11th term.
New CEO Sim Sang-pil joined Samsung Electronics in 1988 and has held positions including the semiconductor research center (senior managing director), the U.S. SAS Corporation (managing director), and head of the foundry manufacturing technology center (vice president). Born in 1965, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Seoul National University and completed his master's and doctoral studies in electrical and electronic engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
Semes, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, manufactures semiconductor equipment such as cleaning, photo, and etching devices, as well as wafer transfer devices (OHT). Recently, it has been mass-producing TC bonder equipment used in high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production and semiconductor dry cleaning equipment 'PURITAS.' Development is also underway for hybrid bonder equipment for 6th generation HBM (HBM4). Major clients include Samsung Electronics and other affiliates of Samsung.
