The information technology (IT) security and authentication corporation RaonSecure announced on the 12th that it has introduced the solution 'OmniOne VC Converter,' which quickly and securely verifies national mobile identification cards through blockchain technology and generates copy images.
RaonSecure noted that it has signed supply contracts for the OmniOne VC Converter with multiple financial institutions. Financial institutions, including banks, insurance companies, and securities firms, verify users' identities using identification cards when accessing financial products such as opening bank accounts and retain copies of the identification images as evidence.
The OmniOne VC Converter is a solution that verifies the authenticity of identification cards and generates copy images when used with mobile identification. For instance, when a bank user submits a mobile identification card in person or remotely to open an account, the bank's verification system can confirm the authenticity of the mobile identification using blockchain nodes and save a copy as an image file.
While there have been similar services based on optical character recognition (OCR) that scan identification cards and extract text, the VC Converter generates copies based on data without issues like scanning errors and is verifiable on the blockchain, which is difficult to forge or alter. Notably, RaonSecure is the manufacturer of the blockchain decentralized identifier (DID) solution for the government mobile identification platform. Since RaonSecure directly manages and builds the mobile identification platform, it can provide the fastest technical support if additional types of national mobile identification are introduced in the future.
Moreover, it will be possible to verify and generate copies of mobile identification documents issued by the government, including the mobile resident registration card set to be issued around late December, mobile driver's licenses, mobile certificates of national merit, mobile certificates for overseas Koreans, and mobile alien registration cards. Future new mobile identifications that are constructed can also be updated free of charge.
RaonSecure plans to introduce various linked solutions and services in the identity verification and qualification certification sectors based on its verified blockchain-based DID technology established for the national mobile identification platform and create diverse revenue models.
Park Jong-moon, head of RaonSecure's service business division, said, "The issuance of blockchain-based mobile resident registration cards will soon begin, and as the nationwide spread of mobile identification cards is imminent, the demand for optimized authenticity verification and copy generation solutions for blockchain mobile identification cards will increase." He added, "We will continue to provide various innovations in industry and daily life by utilizing blockchain DID technology."
