LG Uplus announced on the 11th that it conducted a special lecture on preventing voice phishing targeting one-person households in the city of Seoul to prevent telecommunications financial fraud such as voice phishing, smishing, and pharming.
The special lecture featured a professional instructor who introduced the types and latest cases of telecommunications financial fraud and provided practical coping methods for prevention. The training lasted about two hours and offered various tips and information that participants could use effectively in their daily lives. In particular, it received positive feedback for specifically explaining methods for immediate response when voice phishing occurs and procedures to minimize damage.
The first lecture was held on the 14th of last month at a one-person household support center located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, where participants reaffirmed the importance of preventing voice phishing. The second lecture took place on the 10th of this month at a one-person household support center in Gangnam-gu, providing practical assistance to local residents. In particular, by providing customized education programs that take into account the characteristics of one-person households through cooperation with local centers, the effectiveness of the training was maximized.
LG Uplus plans to expand this special lecture to more regions in the future. Through this, the company aims to strengthen a financial fraud prevention campaign that encompasses not only one-person households but also all generations and classes.
LG Uplus is exploring various measures to create a safe communication environment for customers. It is actively utilizing new technologies, such as the voice phishing detection feature included in 'ixi-O' launched last month and operating the 'ixi Spam Filter' to reduce the sending of illegal spam messages from the communication network.
In the future, LG Uplus plans to create social value through various social contribution activities that prioritize customer safety and the introduction of innovative technologies.
Hong Kwan-hee, head of the Cybersecurity Center at LG Uplus, said, 'Telecommunications financial fraud, including voice phishing, is evolving in methods and increasing in scale, making preventive education essential.' He added, 'Through this special lecture, we will help one-person household customers prevent damage in advance and maintain a safe daily life.'
