A smartphone launched by the British technology company Nothing's sub-brand CMF reportedly exploded in India, causing casualties, according to reports from foreign media such as PhoneArena and GizmoChina on Oct. 10 (local time).

According to foreign media reports, on Oct. 8, a man riding a motorcycle in Maharashtra, India, died after the smartphone he was carrying exploded, and a passenger sustained serious injuries. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.

Some have raised concerns about a battery issue. The smartphone involved in the incident is the ‘Phone 1,’ released by CMF in July, which gained popularity in the Asian market due to its affordable price and unique design. There have been no previous reports of similar explosion incidents. The parent company, Nothing, has not yet disclosed its position.

Recently, explosion incidents involving the Chinese OnePlus smartphones and Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max have also been reported.
