The possibility that Samsung Electronics may reduce smartphone production, including the new Galaxy S25 series set to launch early next year, is being raised both inside and outside the industry.

According to the IT industry on Nov. 11, Samsung Electronics is reported to have set its smartphone production target at 229 million units for 2025. This marks a decrease of about 10 million units compared to the previously announced production goal of 237 million units for next year in October. However, it is noted that the production target figures have not been finalized.

The industry sees the downward adjustment of production targets as a response to the deepening global economic slump.

Samsung Electronics plans to target the global market with the new smartphone Galaxy S25, which is equipped with Galaxy AI. A ‘One UI 7’ beta program is also being conducted to test the Galaxy AI expected to be included in the Galaxy S25.

The Galaxy S25 is scheduled to be released at the end of January next year.
