The government said on the 14th it condemns the Houthi rebels' attack targeting civilians and economic facilities in southern Saudi Arabia that left many civilians injured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this in a Spokesperson's commentary that day. It added, "We also emphasize that attacks on civilians and civilian facilities and acts that hinder the free and safe navigation of vessels cannot be justified for any reason, and we urge an immediate halt to such attacks."
It continued, "Our government emphasizes that peace and stability in the Middle East, including ensuring free and safe navigation in the Red Sea, are important to the entire international community, including Korea, from the perspective of global supply chains and energy security."
It went on to say, "Our government expresses deep solidarity with Saudi Arabia regarding this attack" and urged the Houthi rebels "to refrain from actions that escalate the situation."
