Iran reportedly attacked a U.S. Air Force base in Jordan with missiles. Several U.S. fighter jets were damaged in the attack, but operations were not affected.
On the 10th (local time), CBS News, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that Iran carried out an airstrike on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan between the night of the 8th and the early morning of the 9th.
According to the source, about eight F-15 fighter jets sustained minor damage but were returned to operations. An A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, known as the "Warthog," was also hit by a missile, shearing off one wing. No U.S. military deaths were reported.
Fox News also reported the development, citing a senior U.S. official. The official said, "Iran's attack had no effect on the integrated air and missile defense system." U.S. forces stationed in Jordan reportedly fired more than 30 Patriot interceptor missiles in response to Iran's attack.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have recently flared again. Earlier, on the 9th, Iranian forces struck a U.S. base in Jordan in retaliation against U.S. forces that attacked an Iranian oil tanker.
