Iran warned Korea, which is reviewing a plan to deploy military forces to the Strait of Hormuz, that it would "lead to serious consequences."
Esmaeil Baghaei, Spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, said on the 7th (local time) on the social media platform X that "relations between Iran and the Republic of Korea have a history of more than 64 years, and ties between the two countries have steadily developed based on mutual respect," adding, "Iran places great importance on its friendly relations with Korea."
He added, "At present, the Iranian people are defending themselves against the aggressive actions of the United States and are responding firmly to America's war crimes targeting women and children."
Baghaei, the Spokesperson, also made it clear that if Korea deploys military forces to the Strait of Hormuz, it will be regarded as supporting the United States.
He said, "In this situation, any country that deploys forces or takes part in military operations in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz cannot but be considered as directly supporting the aggressor," adding, "this will lead to serious consequences."
He urged, "A responsible country with sovereignty should not succumb to U.S. pressure and threats and should not condone acts of aggression and horrific crimes targeting the great Iranian people."
