Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang donated about 13.5 billion won for victims of Nepal's massive floods.
On the 4th (local time), Nepal Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle said CEO Jensen Huang recently donated $10 million (about 13.5 billion won) to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund, Nepal's official relief channel.
Minister Wagle, speaking on behalf of the government, thanked CEO Jensen Huang and said, "This donation will provide substantial help for relief and rescue operations for the victims," and added, "I hope it encourages other individuals and organizations to join in supporting the victims."
Reuters reported that losses to property, dwellings, and infrastructure from the Nepal floods are estimated to exceed 3.4 trillion won. Earlier, Minister Wagle said the expense for flood recovery is expected to total $4 billion–$5 billion (about 5.4052 trillion–6.7565 trillion won).
The news agency also reported, citing an official at Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), that about 72.3 billion won will be needed in the first four months of early recovery just for building roads and temporary shelters, supplying drinking water, and restoring power.
Korea announced on the 27th that it would provide $1 million in humanitarian aid to Nepal, immediately after the floods.
