The three major indexes on the New York stock market opened higher, influenced by a decline in Government Bonds yields.
As of 10:25 a.m. on the 3rd (local time), on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 285.21 points, or 0.54%, at 53,347.16. The Standard & Poor's (S&P) 500 was up 36.67 points, or 0.48%, at 7,703.27, and the Nasdaq composite was up 221.46 points, or 0.85%, at 26,439.29.
A drop in U.S. Government Bonds yields boosted investor sentiment. On this day, Christopher Waller, a member of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed), attended the Next Newsmaker event in Washington, D.C., and, regarding inflation, said, "Recent data suggests that we are finally seeing some signs of disinflation."
He added, "If this trend continues in the data released over the next two weeks, I would be inclined to support keeping the target range for the federal funds rate (FFR) at its current level."
After the remarks, U.S. Government Bonds yields moved lower. The U.S. 10-year Government Bonds yield fell as low as 4.730% intraday.
