Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the United States is obstructing talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz between Iran and Oman.
Sepah News, a Revolutionary Guard outlet, said on the 26th (local time) that Spokesperson Hossein Mahvi told a news conference regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz that "the United States is disrupting the (related) process, and as a result, the work is being delayed."
Spokesperson Mahvi said, "If the United States stops obstructing and returns to the agreement, the strait can be opened within the framework of the agreement reached," adding, "If the United States does not accept our conditions, the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened under any circumstances."
Spokesperson Mahvi went on, "The Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran and Oman, which lies opposite us," adding, "We began negotiations with Oman a month ago and reached a result that both sides can accept." He added that the two countries agreed through talks on the equity of both nations in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz and the distribution of revenue, but the final procedures are being delayed due to U.S. obstruction.
Spokesperson Mahvi claimed, "The Strait of Hormuz and the waterways near Oman are also entirely under our control," adding, "There are currently no enemy warships in the Persian Gulf, and enemy warships are at least 400 kilometers away from the Strait of Hormuz."
He added, "From a military and territorial perspective, no vessel can pass through this waterway without Iran's permission and control."
