As U.S. Government Bonds yields fell for a second day and semiconductor stocks strengthened, the three major U.S. New York stock indexes opened higher.
At 9:50 a.m. on the 25th (local time) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Dow Jones industrial average was trading at 53,422.12, up 4.95 points (0.01%) from the previous session. The large-cap-focused S&P 500 rose 27.18 points (0.36%) to 7,680.04, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite added 212.76 points (0.82%) to 26,195.12.
Market attention is focused on the earnings release of Nvidia, the leading artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor stock. The market is also rising as technology stocks, which saw concentrated selling the previous day, rebound. With Nvidia, the bellwether AI chip stock, set to report results after the close on the 26th, bargain hunting has flowed into semiconductor names.
Nvidia gained more than 1% in premarket trading, and major chip stocks including AMD, Intel, Micron, and SanDisk also rose together. AMD climbed more than 3% in premarket trading, helped by an upgrade from Raymond James.
A decline in U.S. Government Bonds yields also supported investor sentiment. The U.S. 10-year Government Bonds yield fell to around 4.67% before the open. International oil prices also dropped sharply. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) and Brent crude fell about 3% as the possibility of easing tensions between the United States and Iran came into focus.
U.S. inflation-related indicators are also key variables for the stock market. In the United States this week, the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index will be released. The inflation trend could influence the Federal Reserve's future rate policy.
