Iran warned it would regard any country that joins the U.S. economic sanctions against Iran as an enemy.
According to AFP on the 22nd, Mohsen Rezaee, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said on Iranian state TV, "We declare to all countries: Do not take part in the 'economic war' that the United States is waging," adding, "Any country that participates in imposing economic sanctions will be regarded as an enemy."
On the 19th, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that he would launch an "unprecedented-scale economic war" against Iran. Trump warned that third countries providing funding to Iran would pay a "tremendous economic price," pressuring the international community to halt transactions with Iran.
Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is scheduled to hold a press conference on the 24th and announce plans for additional economic sanctions against Iran.
