A logistics center of Ozon, Russia's No. 2 online retailer, was hit by a Ukrainian drone attack, halting operations. Targets appear to be expanding beyond Russian refineries to major retail and logistics infrastructure.
On the 22nd (local time), Reuters and others said Ozon's logistics center in Chapayevsk, Samara region, was hit by drones overnight, injuring several people. Ozon suspended operations at the facility after the attack. Reuters said this was the first time Ozon's facility had been actually attacked and suffered damage.
The latest attack targeted multiple regions in Russia, not just Ozon. In Novokuybyshevsk, Samara region, industrial and refinery facilities were attacked, and in Yeysk, Krasnodar region in southern Russia, a fire reportedly broke out at port facilities. The Ministry of National Defense of Russia claimed it shot down 457 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Russia's attacks on Ukraine are continuing. According to AFP, a warehouse in Kyiv and a minibus in Zaporizhzhia were hit by Russian strikes that killed one person each and injured several others. The day before, a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, was hit by a drone attack that reportedly left at least 16 people dead.
As fighting between the two sides has intensified recently, civilian casualties are also increasing. According to the United Nations (UN) human rights monitoring mission, at least 437 Ukrainian civilians were killed last month, up 70% from a year earlier.
Ukraine is continuing long-range drone attacks on Russia's energy and logistics facilities. Russia is also carrying out airstrikes on Ukrainian cities and ports, widening the scope of attacks by both sides.
