Caroline Leavitt, the first White House Spokesperson of President Donald Trump's second administration, will step down at the end of this month, President Trump said on the 12th local time.
On Truth Social the same day, President Trump wrote that Spokesperson Leavitt, after leaving, would "be able to spend more time with her beautiful young children and family," adding, "I completely understand and respect this decision."
He went on, "Caroline will now be one of my senior outside advisers and an influential voice within the Republican Party, and we will work together to achieve a decisive victory in the midterm elections as we make history."
President Trump also said, "Caroline was a true leader in the White House and has achieved incredible results, fighting for justice and freedom since 2018, including the historic 2024 reelection campaign," adding, "Thank you to Caroline for a job well done."
On her X account (formerly Twitter), Spokesperson Leavitt wrote, "After giving birth to my daughter and returning to the White House, I realized that while pouring the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Spokesperson, I could not be the best mom my two young children rightfully deserve," adding, "That is exactly why I ultimately made the bittersweet decision to leave the White House and open a new chapter in my life."
Leavitt was appointed White House Spokesperson by President Trump after the 2024 presidential election victory. At the time she was 27, the youngest-ever White House Spokesperson.
Leavitt, who worked in the press office during President Trump's first term in the White House, served as in-house Spokesperson for the Trump campaign in the 2024 election.
In July 2024, at the height of the presidential campaign, Leavitt had her first child, a son, with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, a real estate businessman 32 years her senior, and in May she gave birth to their second child, a daughter.
She took leave to give birth to her second child and recently returned as Spokesperson, but in the end is leaving the White House.
