Hunter Biden said former U.S. President Joe Biden's prostate cancer has metastasized to other parts of his body and he is in severe pain.
In an interview with the BBC on the 8th, local time, Hunter Biden said of his father's health, "The cancer has metastasized and spread to the bones and beyond. It is very painful and debilitating," adding, "It is really sad to watch."
He added, "If there is one thing I could say about my father's health right now, it is that I wish he would show a bit more that he is struggling," and, "He is the best father, the best husband, the best grandfather."
After leaving office, Biden disclosed in May last year that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer that had spread to his bones, and in September of the same year he also underwent surgery to remove skin cancer cells. Concerns about his health were raised at the time because he was 83 years old.
Hunter Biden said that even while battling illness, Biden continues to speak out on issues he cares about. He said, "My father believes in this country," adding, "I promise that as long as he is alive, he will keep fighting."
During his father's presidency, Hunter Biden was convicted on gun-related charges and was also indicted on tax evasion charges. At the end of his term, in December 2024, Biden pardoned his son despite controversy.
In the interview, Hunter Biden called his father's pardon "not fair" and acknowledged it was "not good" for the United States or for his father's legacy. He also described himself, as a recipient of the pardon, as "the most privileged person in the world."
