U.S. President Donald Trump on the 6th (local time) offered an outlook that the Iran war will end soon.
During a question-and-answer session with reporters at a White House executive order signing ceremony that day, President Trump said, "I think (the war) will end soon. It cannot last long," adding, "I am involved in negotiations and we are doing well. A (war end) could be achieved soon."
However, President Trump did not mention the grounds for seeing the war ending soon or a specific timeline for ending it. He also did not offer further explanation about the status of talks between Iran and Oman regarding opening the Strait of Hormuz.
The previous day, President Trump also said he was having "very good discussions" with Iran and claimed that the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran is restricting ship passage, will reopen soon. Iran, meanwhile, has drawn a line against talks with the United States while maintaining that it will focus only on negotiations with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump also addressed news reports that U.S. interceptor missile stockpiles were rapidly depleted during the Iran war. He emphasized, "We have very powerful ammunition and can supply it virtually without limit," adding, "We literally have an enormous amount of ammunition."
