Ownership of the luxury dwellings "Taipei Xinyi," left by Taiwanese star actor Xu Xiyuan (Seo Hee-won), who died last year, has reportedly passed to her husband Koo Jun-yeob and her two minor children.
On the 28th, Taiwanese outlets including Liberty Times and United Daily News, citing related sources, reported that among the two luxury dwellings Xu Xiyuan owned while alive, the title transfer for "Taipei Xinyi," located on Songyong Road in Xinyi District, Taipei, was completed on the 22nd.
According to the reports, this duplex penthouse, which Xu Xiyuan bought in 2016 for 362 million Taiwan dollars (about 16.3 billion won), is now registered in joint names with Koo Jun-yeob and the two minor children each holding one-third equity. The current transaction price for the apartment is estimated at about 460 million Taiwan dollars (about 20.7 billion won). Because the children are not yet legal adults, their biological father, Wang Xiaofei, is handling inheritance and asset management as their legal representative.
However, another high-end villa, "National Art Gallery," located on Songde Road in Xinyi District, has seen no change in title. Another source noted that for this house, which Xu Xiyuan purchased around 200 million Taiwan dollars (about 9 billion won) in 2009, her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei took out a loan of about 110 million Taiwan dollars (about 4.9 billion won) to raise seed money for a business, placing a primary mortgage with a financial institution. Wang has paid back only 5 million Taiwan dollars (about 220 million won) so far, leaving the future course of action unclear. Xu's mother-in-law, Huang Chun-mei, currently lives there, but whether she can continue to reside in the villa is expected to be determined after legal procedures for inheritance and settlement are concluded.
In addition, the furniture and household items inside Xu Xiyuan's home after her death were photographed, inventoried, and notarized under the supervision of legal representatives for both Koo Jun-yeob and Wang Xiaofei. To protect the rights of the heirs, these items cannot be moved or disposed of at will until the estate division is fully completed. Taiwanese legal experts said that under Article 1138 of the Civil Act, Xu Xiyuan's estate will likely be divided equally, one-third each, among three people: her spouse, Koo Jun-yeob, and her two young children.
Meanwhile, Xu Xiyuan was a Taiwanese star known as an actor, singer and variety show host. In the drama "Meteor Garden," adapted from the Japanese manga "Boys Over Flowers" in 2001, she played the lead role of "Shancai" and enjoyed popularity. She started a family in 2011 with Chinese entrepreneur Wang Xiaofei but separated in 2021, and in 2022, the following year, she registered her marriage again with Koo Jun-yeob. She later died after contracting the flu while traveling in Japan in early February last year and developing pneumonia complications. Her surviving family includes her husband, Koo Jun-yeob, and a daughter (11) and a son (9) she had with her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei.
