U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to hold back-to-back meetings with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. With the possibility of a full-scale U.S.-Iran war rising and Russia and Ukraine striking inland areas, they are expected to discuss countermeasures.
According to Reuters on the 24th, the Israel Prime Minister's Office said Netanyahu will depart for the United States on the 27th and meet Trump in Washington, D.C., the next day. This will be the first face-to-face meeting between Netanyahu and Trump since the outbreak of the Iran war in February.
The United States has continued airstrikes on Iran for a second week. Iran has retaliated by sending suicide drones and other weapons at U.S. bases in the Middle East.
Reuters, citing Ukraine sources, reported that Zelenskyy plans to meet Trump in Washington, D.C., on the 28th.
After Russia's large-scale ballistic missile attack, Ukraine is counterattacking with long-range drones. Not only the border area but also Kyiv in Ukraine and St. Petersburg in Russia have been added to the airstrike targets.
The funeral of the late former Sen. Lindsey Graham (Republican), considered a close aide to Trump, became the trigger for the back-to-back meetings. Graham died of a sudden heart condition on the 11th, immediately after returning from a visit to Ukraine to meet with Zelenskyy.
After Russia invaded Ukraine, Graham visited Ukraine 10 times to urge U.S. support. He was also regarded as pro-Israel.
