The United States, which has carried out airstrikes against Iran for nearly two weeks, did not announce any strikes for the first time on the 24th (local time).
According to CNN, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) disclosed via X (formerly Twitter) for 13 consecutive days through the 23rd that it had struck military targets inside Iran, but made no related announcement that day. It was not confirmed whether there were no actual strikes.
The U.S. military said only that it fired to stop an Iranian oil tanker attempting to pass through a maritime blockade line in the Gulf of Oman near the Strait of Hormuz that day. Iran's state media also did not report any news of airstrikes or explosions overnight through the morning of the 25th.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he could take immediate military action if no deal is reached with Iran that day, but said they are talking in earnest.
In the Oval Office, when asked by reporters about an exit strategy for a war with Iran, Trump said there is a "military exit strategy" and a "smarter strategy of making a deal." He added, "Even at this very moment we are talking with them," and "I always prefer that alternative (a solution through talks)."
